CMIT Wins Chess Battle Against Davidsonville |

Chesapeake Math and Information Technology (CMIT) and Davidsonville Elementary played a two round chess match at

Davidsonville Elementary School on December 16, 2011. CMIT won the match by out pointing Davidsonville in round two. In the first round, Davidsonsville stopped a hard pressing CMIT team with an upset win on board two. The round ended in a tie with both teams scoring 3 ½ points. In round two, the score again was tied until the last game of the round decided the outcome. Davidsonsville chess team comprised 5th graders. The team from CMIT were all in grade 6th . The teams are already discussing a rematch.  |

A Free Introductory Chess Class |

To schools that qualify, we are offering a free chess class. This class will teach rules and strategies commonly used by tournament players for positive results. Chess is an easy game to learn but one that is difficult to master. Instructions includes tricks and traps that players need to master in order to be successful at the game of chess. The classes last one hour.
This offer is to schools in the greater Baltimore area, including counties Howard, Baltimore, Anne Arundel, and Prince Georges.
